Protecting sensitive scientific equipment is extremely important in the dangerous environment of space. By keeping cameras and other fragile equipment protected with a door or cover until the spacecraft is successfully positioned in orbit, the chances of damaging the critical data acquisition equipment is greatly reduced. CDA motors can be used to open and close these doors and protective shrouds, allowing successful use of the scientific equipment.
